Spring 2026

WACO, Texas – Café Castellaw continues to strengthen community and professional development opportunities for Baylor Journalism, Public Relations and New Media students.

Launched in 2016 by retired lecturer Carol Perry with support from then-chair Sara Stone, the weekly gathering began as a small initiative providing coffee and refreshments for JPR&NM majors. Faculty and classes originally supplied the refreshments, creating an intimate space for students to connect.

Over time, Café Castellaw has expanded beyond a simple coffee break. The event now partners with Career Services to offer résumé reviews, career fair preparation workshops and internship guidance. Career Services representatives regularly meet with students, and the Café Castellaw Résumé Review has become a valued resource within the department.

Café Castellaw has also served as a centerpiece for special events, including themed gatherings and media literacy programming in partnership with KWBU.

Today, the tradition collaborates with multiple campus organizations and continues to serve as a hub for connection, professional development and student engagement within the JPR&NM
community.
