WACO, Texas – Easter break is coming up and several Baylor students are thinking about how to get back home.

When traveling this break Baylor students are presented with three options on how to travel out of Waco. They can either fly out of the Waco Regional Airport, drive home or drive to a larger airport.

For those flying out of Waco Regional Airport there is good and bad news. The good news is that the airport has not been affected by the government shutdown and wait times haven’t increased. The bad news is that there are only 3-4 departures a day through American Airlines which creates a limited amount of seats.

On the other hand Baylor students can drive back home or drive to a larger airport. Driving back home presents its own challenges as several closures on I-35 traffic have increased significantly. Larger airports like ones in Houston or Dallas also come with some baggage as the government shutdown has increased wait times.

With these things in mind it is crucial that students plan ahead for their trip back with this information in their mind.

Rather than booking a flight the night before, students need to secure a seat multiple days ahead as there are limited seats available. For driving students must leave during low traffic hours and give an extra hour and a half for flights at larger airports. Travelling back home presents many challenges but staying informed and planning accordingly will make sure that each student’s excursion home is free from unwelcome Easter surprises.
