WACO, TEXAS — After weeks of uncertainty surrounding Baylor Football, the university announced that head coach Dave Aranda will return next season, a decision that brought mixed reactions across campus.
President Linda Livingstone addressed the news in a campus-wide statement, saying the choice came after careful evaluation. She emphasized that Baylor still expects excellence and accountability, and that the decision was made with both stability and student-athlete experience in mind.
Some students said Aranda’s leadership and connection with players make him the right person to guide the program forward. Others expressed frustration, pointing to close losses and back-to-back losing seasons since Baylor’s Big 12 Championship and Sugar Bowl win in 2021.
With a new athletic director stepping in, university leaders said continuity is essential during the transition. But the announcement also brings renewed pressure for Aranda, who will enter next season needing to rebuild trust with fans eager for improvement.
As Baylor looks toward the year ahead, the football program prepares for a pivotal season that could determine the long-term direction of Aranda’s tenure.
