WACO, TEXAS — After having no concerts last year Baylor has expanded its concert operation tremendously, selling out multiple shows and featuring big names such as Post Malone.

The start of this expansion began with Baylor making a deal with the city of Waco to have concerts at Foster Pavilion over the next two years. The results were something that no one expected though as the concerts were an instant success.

Over the first couple of months there were eight sold-out or near-capacity events at Foster Pavilion. The pool of artists was more of what Baylor was used to though as the headliners were Christian artists such as Forrest Frank and Lauren Daigle.

Seeing the success of the first series of concerts pushed Baylor to expand its operation. This came through including more locations and inviting secular artists.

Even former Baylor student Willie Nelson was invited back although he had been unofficially banned in 1988 as his image was not deemed to align with Baylor’s values. He will be performing at Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark on May 14.

Along with Nelson the other prominent secular performers coming to Waco are Post Malone and Jelly Roll. Their concert will be held at McLane Stadium on May 19. This sudden shift doesn’t look to be stopping now though as the Post Malone and Jelly Roll’s concert has already sold out, showing that Baylor’s expansion wasn’t in vain. With each success and sold-out show Baylor hopes to keep the ball moving and continue bringing in big names whether they be Christian or secular.
