WACO, TEXAS — Baylor is recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness Month with events throughout April aimed at educating students, promoting prevention, and connecting the campus community with support resources.

At the Farmers Market on Fountain Mall Lawn, students stopped by for fresh produce and succulents while also learning more about the purpose behind Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the resources available to them on campus.

Baylor says the event was designed to bring awareness into an everyday campus space and encourage a culture of care among students.

The Farmer’s Market was hosted by Baylor’s Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office, which is leading the university’s Sexual Assault Awareness month programming. By combining a familiar campus event with information and outreach, Baylor says the goal was to make conversations about prevention, support, and advocacy more visible and approachable for students.

Another event featured in this month’s programming is The Recipe for Consent, held April 15 at Moody Memorial Library. During this event, students gathered to learn more about consent through conversation and education.

Baylor says the program, hosted in partnership with Baylor University Police Department, is meant to break down the “ingredients” of consent in a way that feels accessible and engaging for the campus community.

University officials say these events are part of a larger effort to keep conversations around sexual assault awareness active throughout the month. Upcoming events include Light the Night/Campus Lit for SAAM on April 21 at 7 p.m. and Empowerment Journey and Denim Day on April 29 from noon to 2 p.m. Baylor says the month-long programming is meant to continue spreading awareness, prevention and support for survivors across campus.
