WACO, TEXAS — Baylor University’s Alpha Chi Omega hosted its annual Block Party on Friday, bringing students together for an evening of activities, vendors and a high-heel race to raise awareness about domestic violence.

The event featured local vendors, yard games and a high- heel race with male representatives from different fraternities and organizations across Baylor’s campus. Participants also dressed up in costumes, adding a fun twist to the competition.

The race was inspired by the international “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” campaign, which encourages men to participate in marches and events wearing high heels to raise awareness about domestic violence.

While the race brought friendly competion, its message went beyond the activities. The campaign encourages participants to step into someone else’s shoes and consider the experiences of others.

Through the annual Block Party, Alpha Chi Omega aims to educate college students about domestic violence and emphasize the importance of awareness and understanding. By combining activities with a meaningful cause, the event allows students to come together while learning about an issue that affects communities everywhere.
